Ed Hoffort has substantially renovated and added a timber frame deck to our house. He was very professional and we felt we had good value for the money we spent.
Ed kept the site clean at all times. The craftsmanship on the timber frame (Ed cut himself) was incredible. The project was far better than we had anticipated. My wife and I also appreciate the timely manner in which the project was completed.
We have also hired Ed to build a bar and cupboards at our restaurant at O’Keefe ranch. Again, Ed did the workmanship himself. We were pleased with every aspect of the job.

We have worked with Mr. Ed Hoffort since July 2004 to build our home in Golden, B.C. Ed was highly recommended to us by our neighbours who had dealt with him in his previous position with another construction company. Our first meeting with Ed was very pleasant and he spent almost two hours with us answering questions, showing us his work site and providing information about our project.
The following weeks were an indication of how well Ed and his company operate. With Ed’s input we were able to change our original design plans to help us reach our budget and design goals. His construction experience and foresight enabled us to correct the previous designer’s oversights, saving thousands of dollars. It was our pleasure to engage the services of Ed Hoffort between the dates of September 2005 to April 2007. Mr. Hoffort acted as our general contractor/project manager during the construction of our executive home at Kicking Horse Mountain Resort in Golden BC.
During this project Ed identified, and obtained commitments of service, then organized tradesmen and subcontractors to facilitate completion of a relatively complicated project in what we believe to be a reasonable time line, especially given the intense competition for skilled tradesmen and appropriate supplies and services in BC and Alberta during this time.
Ed was responsible and worked to be sure jobs and contracts were completed as specified and to our satisfaction. If there were discrepancies between final quotes and original budget estimates, Ed was helpful, working with us to find a satisfactory resolution. In cases where we were unhappy with the outcome of a particular job, Ed was willing to discuss our concerns and work toward addressing them to our satisfaction.
Ed came with a reputation for working to stay close to budget, and he did indeed work quite hard with his subtrades and tradesmen to maintain a reasonably firm line on costs. It was nice to feel he was working on our behalf as he was hired to do, rather than having as his primary concern keeping the trades happy and willing to move on quickly to his next project.
Ed is honest, personable, and patient but committed to satisfying his clients’ needs with a careful mind to a budget. He also kept us mindful of the balance in working with trades at a time when they were in high demand and so rather short supply.
Ed was someone who at the end of the project left us with the impression that he was working on our behalf, not just keeping the trades happy for his next project.

It is with great pleasure that I provide this reference for Ed Hoffort. Our expectations were met and exceeded on many occasions during and after construction of our home due to the detail oriented, approachable, and organized nature of Ed. We are truly pleased with our new home!
Proper construction was paramount to Ed, and if not building himself, he could often be found direction the subcontractors on site. Any issues were dealt with in a timely manner without delaying construction.
Ed was easy to work with and considerate of our input. Delays in construction were avoided because he obtained our input well in advance of final projects to be completed in our home. The input he provided was never unsolicited and led to a functional and stylish home design that is more than we could have hoped for.
Following completion of the project, Ed kindly provided a complete and resourceful manual for maintaining our home and keeping track of warranties. I am not aware of any other contractor/builder who provides such a comprehensive manual. In addition, Ed has been easy to contact with any warranty issues that have arose on subcontracted fixtures.
Ed’s attention to detail, timely resolutions of the common problems that occur during a construction project, and genuine concern that our desires were attended to, made the process of building our home stress free and enjoyable. Re: Ed Hoffort and kicking Horse Construction Ltd.
In d2006/2007 Ed Hoffort and his company Kicking Horse Construction Ltd. built for Joanne and me a home on our property in the Blaeberry Valley near Golden, British Columbia. The building is a timber frame structure with an outer “skin” of stuctual insulated panels. It is “off the grid” (electrical power is provided through a system of solar panels and batteries) and is heated with a wood stove (although other heating systems have been roughed in).
We have now taken possessing of our newly completed home and are very happy with it.
We found Ed to be practical and helpful and were able to work through with Ed all issues that arose during the project.
